A ghostly swing ensemble resurrecting music from the 1930s, '40s and '50s to parody the 2020s

Biography

The Bygones emerge from the static of history like a transmission from a parallel timeline where the Great Depression never ended but everyone kept dancing. This ghostly swing ensemble channels the spirits of forgotten dance halls and wartime radio broadcasts, resurrecting the sounds of the 1930s, '40s, and '50s to create biting satirical commentary on modern dystopia. Their crackling foxtrots, melancholic torch hymns, and sardonic propaganda polkas transform contemporary anxieties into vintage sonic artifacts. Each performance is a séance of sorts, conjuring an era of elegant decay where modern absurdities are dressed in the formal wear of yesteryear. The Bygones don't just play swing music; they perform musical archaeology, excavating the past to bury the present in layers of irony and nostalgia. Their sound is both a time machine and a fun-house mirror, reflecting our current moment through the distorted lens of America's "golden age" – revealing that perhaps we've been living in reruns all along.
